New Rebate Program Provides Customers Financial Incentives to Install Solar Storage Systems

Clean Energy Sources

CPA has launched a new financial rebate program for residential customers who install solar storage systems. The Sun Storage Rebate Program will allow customers to increase their renewable energy use, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and provide greater electricity reliability to local homes.

The program offers a $750 rebate to residential customers who install an eligible battery storage system paired with solar photovoltaic (PV) panels. Customers who are eligible for the CARE, FERA, or Medical Baseline assistance rates are offered a $1,000 rebate. There are more than 1,200 eligible battery storage systems available.

The rebate can be applied on top of the California Public Utilities Commission’s Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) and any available tax credits.

The goal of the Sun Storage Rebate Program is to help reduce the cost barrier of battery storage adoption. Adding battery storage systems to existing or new solar greatly improves solar PV’s financial benefits by reducing peak electricity demand costs. Battery storage systems also provide backup power that can keep the lights and air conditioning on during outages.

In order to qualify, the battery storage system must be at least 5 kWh or greater in capacity, an approved system on SGIP’s verified equipment list, and connected to a solar PV system.
