Clean Power Alliance’s Voyager Wind Clean Energy Career Pathways Scholarship Program

SoCal

July 15, 2020

In May 2019, Clean Power Alliance’s (CPA) Board of Directors adopted the parameters for $150,000 in scholarship funding. Part of this funding was equitably distributed to seven community colleges throughout Los Angeles and Ventura Counties: Antelope Valley College, Compton College, East Los Angeles College, Rio Hondo College, Ventura College, Oxnard College, and Moorpark College.

The scholarship program is intended to support students enrolled in eligible energy career pathways, such as electric vehicles and advanced transportation technology, energy and environmental science, and alternative energy, to name a few.

So far, 29 students were awarded a total of $33,000 in scholarships. The scholarships have provided additional fiscal support to many students during these unforeseen economic hardships, due to COVID-19. In addition, Oxnard College matched each scholarship dollar-for-dollar and distributed a total of $8,000.

CPA is excited to share the positive impacts the program is having within its member agencies’ communities. To view a video testimonial from the scholarship recipients, visit: https://vimeo.com/434540126.
