Clean Power Alliance Welcomes New Customers in La Cañada Flintridge, Lynwood and Port Hueneme

Community Commitment

Residents and businesses in the cities La Cañada Flintridge, Lynwood, and Port Hueneme began receiving electricity through Clean Power Alliance (CPA) this month, marking an important milestone in these communities’ transition to clean energy, and advancing CPA’s mission to provide choices for cleaner, more sustainable power across Southern California.

With the inclusion of these three cities, CPA now provides clean energy options to 38 communities across Los Angeles and Ventura counties. This growing participation and expansion of CPA’s service territory reflects a strong regional commitment to environmental stewardship and highlights the increasing momentum among local municipalities to lead on climate action.

“Port Hueneme’s decision to join Clean Power Alliance reflects our community’s commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable future,” said Charles Peretz, the Port Hueneme Deputy City Manager. “By expanding access to renewable energy, we’re not only reducing our carbon footprint but also giving our residents and businesses more choice and control over their energy. This marks an important step that allows the city and its residents to help protect our environment on a long-term basis.”

Transitioning to CPA service allows La Cañada FlintridgeLynwood and Port Hueneme to take a strategic step toward reducing dependence on fossil fuels and embracing renewable energy sources like solar, wind, geothermal, and hydroelectric power. This commitment supports long-term environmental sustainability while offering tangible economic benefits.

As renewable energy becomes increasingly cost-competitive, CPA’s approach – leveraging bulk purchasing and local decision-making – helps provide customers with more stable electricity rates over time. For residents and businesses, that means competitive electricity rates and greater choice in how their energy is sourced.

Collectively, the 33,947 new customers in these communities will help avoid 128 million pounds of harmful greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) each year, which is equivalent to taking more than 13,500 gasoline-powered cars off the road annually or growing 958,000 trees for a decade.  Each year, CPA customers across all communities avoid more than 3.8 billion pounds of GHGs.

“Lynwood is committed to protecting our environment and future generations by making cleaner energy more accessible,” said Lynwood Mayor Rita Soto. “Joining Clean Power Alliance allows our residents and businesses to enjoy reliable, competitively priced electricity while contributing to a more sustainable future for our city.”

When communities join CPA, they benefit from CPA investments in their communities that support local clean energy projects. These initiatives promote the development of renewable energy infrastructure, drive job creation, and stimulate local economic growth—creating long-term impacts that extend well beyond affordable energy bills.

Member cities are committed to advancing key environmental objectives, including compliance with state and local climate mandates, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) and improvements in air quality.

La Cañada Flintridge City Council Member Stephanie Fossan highlighted that these efforts can contribute directly to a cleaner, healthier environment for current and future generations.

“The City of La Cañada Flintridge is proud to join Clean Power Alliance in advancing a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.” Council Member Fossan said, “Beginning this month, we made the switch to 100% Green Power—delivering competitively priced electricity while supporting long-term sustainability for our community and helping to make California greener.”

By reducing greenhouse gas emissions, communities can help address the impacts of climate change — like extreme heat, droughts, and wildfires — which threaten infrastructure and public health. Transitioning to clean energy is a long-term strategy to strengthening communities’ resilience to climate risks.

As more cities choose to partner with CPA, the collective impact of their efforts grows exponentially. This regional collaboration strengthens the push toward a more sustainable and resilient energy system—one that prioritizes community well-being, environmental health and energy independence.
