Save Money and Energy This Holiday Season by Following a Few Simple Energy Saving Tips

CPA Happenings

As the holiday season brings cooler temperatures, and homes throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties light up with festive decorations, it is a good time to stay mindful of how this can increase energy use and lead to higher bills after the celebrations end.

At CPA, we remain dedicated to delivering renewable, reliable, and competitively priced energy to our local communities, while supporting our customers to reduce costs wherever possible.

To lower your energy use during the holidays, consider trying a few simple, practical tips that can help save power without sacrificing any of the seasonal cheer.

Use LED Holiday Lights
Swap out traditional incandescent bulbs for LED holiday lights, which use significantly less electricity, last longer and stay cooler, making them both energy-efficient and safer for decorating.

Set Timers or Smart Controls
Put holiday lights and décor on timers or smart plugs to ensure they run only during chosen hours. This prevents lights from staying on all night and helps you manage energy use effortlessly.

Adjust Your Thermostat
Lower the thermostat a few degrees during gatherings or when cooking, since extra body heat and warm ovens naturally raise indoor temperatures. Small adjustments can translate into meaningful energy savings over the season.

Cook More Efficiently
Use smaller appliances, such as slow cookers, toaster ovens or air fryers for side dishes and reheating. These devices consume far less energy than a full-size oven and are perfect for preparing portions common during holiday meals.

Unplug Appliances That are Not in Use
Unplug holiday lights, electronics and chargers when they are not in use to avoid standby power drain. These small actions add up, helping you keep your energy consumption and your post-holiday bill under control.
