Save Money on Your Bill this Autumn with CPA’s Energy Saving Tips

Energy Savings

CPA loves the autumn season! Between the holidays, festive lights and celebrations, there’s plenty to enjoy.

However, increased electricity use can come along with all the extra activity. CPA is committed to helping its customers conserve energy and save money on their monthly electricity bills.

This fall and beyond, you can reduce your energy use, support a healthier environment in your community and lower your electricity bill by following a few simple energy-saving tips:

1. Lower Your Thermostat at Night

Small changes to your thermostat settings can make a noticeable difference in your energy use. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, you can save up to 10% per year on heating and cooling by adjusting your thermostat 7°–10°F from its normal setting for eight hours a day.

Try lowering your thermostat before going to bed and returning it to your preferred setting in the morning. This simple habit can help reduce energy consumption while you sleep.

2. Take advantage of Time of Use (TOU) Rates

Use Appliances Peak hours are periods when electricity demand is typically higher because more customers are using power at the same time, typically between 4 p.m. –  9 p.m.

Using high-energy appliances such as vehicle chargers, dishwashers, water heaters and air conditioners during off-peak hours can help reduce demand and may lower your electricity costs.

3. Choose Energy-Efficient Appliances

When it’s time to replace an appliance, look for products with the ENERGY STAR® label. ENERGY STAR-certified appliances meet energy-efficiency standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and are available for a wide range of household products, including refrigerators, televisions, stoves, air conditioners, washers and dryers.

Energy-efficient appliances can use significantly less energy than standard models, helping you reduce your household’s energy consumption and potentially lower your electricity bills. CPA’s Energy Team can also help residential customers and small businesses select efficient appliances, planning energy upgrades and finding financial rebates to save money.

4. Schedule a Heating System Maintenance

Check As cooler weather arrives, it’s a good time to make sure your heating system is ready for the season ahead. Scheduling a maintenance check can help identify potential repairs or issues before they become bigger problems.

A well-maintained heating system can operate more efficiently, helping keep your home comfortable without using more energy than necessary. A seasonal checkup can also give you peace of mind as temperatures begin to drop.

A few simple changes can make a big difference.
