In April, Clean Power Alliance joined community choice aggregators (CCAs) from across the country at the Community Choice Energy Alliance (CCEA, formally LEAN Energy US) 2026 Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C.
The CCAs met with staff from key committees, including the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, the Senate Finance Committee, the Senate Energy and Natural resources Committee, the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
The conversations laid the groundwork for deeper collaboration and elevated the voice of local communities to foster a clearer understanding of how federal and local efforts can align to move sustainability efforts forward.
With the impacts of climate change intensifying, and the need for dependable, affordable energy continuing to grow, CPA is advancing efforts to expand clean energy across California through investments in renewable projects and infrastructure.
At the same time, CPA is developing and expanding innovative programs that help local customers reduce both electricity use and costs while supporting the state’s long-term sustainability objectives.
CPA informed elected officials of these efforts and participated in meetings with federal agencies including, the Department of Energy and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The group also met with staff from House Minority Leader Hakeem Jefferies and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s offices, and the California delegation met with staff from the offices of Senators Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla.
CPA also met with nine members of its Congressional delegation for meetings focused on protection of energy tax credits and municipal tax-exempt financing, permitting reform and data center policy.
As part of these discussions, CPA staff highlighted federal funding opportunities aimed at advancing clean energy initiatives throughout California, updated legislators on key clean energy objectives for the year ahead and reviewed major energy challenges affecting the state.
