Clean Power Alliance board directors and staff joined trade association CalCCA and community choice aggregators (CCAs) from across California for the annual CCA Lobby Day in January.
CPA met with numerous state representatives to advocate for its key legislative priorities, including support for customers facing rising electricity bills and initiatives for wildfire relief and resiliency in response to the recent regional wildfires.
As demand grows for solutions that address the worsening impacts of climate change as well as the need for energy reliability and affordability, CPA continues to advocate for substantial investments in access to renewable power sources and infrastructure projects that will strengthen California’s energy resiliency and meet long-term sustainability goals.
This lobby day was a part of a comprehensive advocacy effort with other community choice aggregators from across the state. CPA joined meetings with California State Senators Steve Padilla, Sasha Renee Perez, Suzette Martinez Valladares, Bob Archuleta, and Monique Limón; State Assemblymembers Tina McKinnor, Jacqui Irwin, Jesse Gabriel, Lisa Calderon, Cottie Petrie-Norris, Jessica Caloza, Nick Shultz, and John Harabedian; and with staff from the Office of Governor Gavin Newsom.
For the past four years, CPA has met with members of our legislative delegation, the governor’s office, and legislative leaders in a virtual or in-person Lobby Day to educate members about CPA’s current accomplishments and concerns, previewing CPA’s policy priorities, and informing members on our legislative priorities.
CPA is working with our delegation to address the energy affordability crisis, through exploring new and innovative ways to finance energy infrastructure and transmission such as utilizing public financing for a public-private partnership model to finance transmission lines. CPA is proud to support Senate Bill 330 (introduced by Senator Padilla), which would identify transmission infrastructure pilot projects that state or local public agencies could develop, finance, or operate. CPA anticipates engaging in additional policy proposals as the legislative session continues.
CPA is committed to working with our elected officials on the key energy priorities that impact their local constituents, while advocating for clean energy programs and projects that benefit our communities across the state.
