CPA’s New Instant AC Savings Program Makes Energy Efficient Cooling More Accessible and Affordable

CPA Programs

Southern California summers can bring intense heat, making it difficult to live without energy efficient and effective home cooling. Lack of air conditioning not only causes discomfort during the hottest days but can also pose serious health risks to vulnerable community members.

To help local residents stay comfortable, Clean Power Alliance (CPA) has launched the Instant AC Savings program, which provides California Alternate Rate Assistance (CARE) and Financial Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) program customers with a $300 in instant coupon* towards the purchase of a new ENERGY STAR ® certified room air conditioner unit.

With Instant AC Savings, customers can beat the heat more affordably while also improving energy efficiency, which can lower electricity bills.

The summer of 2024 was officially recorded as California’s hottest on record, with the National Center for Environmental Information ranking the first eight months as the nation’s second warmest ever registered.

During periods of extreme heat, seniors, infants, young children and pets face an increased risk of health issues, including heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. Older, less efficient air conditioners utilize more energy to run and cost more money to operate.

This $300 coupon* for CARE and FERA customers is offered in partnership with Golden State Rebates (GSR) which is a statewide rebate that offers savings on high-efficiency water heaters, space heating systems, and smart thermostats for residential customers served by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), or Southern California Edison (SCE).

CPA customers who qualify for these savings can have a significant portion of a new ENERGY STAR certified room air conditioner unit covered, with eligible base models starting at approximately $350. Customers can lower their energy bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by using ENERGY STAR air conditioners.

Residential and small business customers who need assistance in choosing an eligible cooling device can contact CPA’s Energy Team service. The Energy Team’s friendly experts provide help with planning energy upgrades, finding financial rebates to save money, and offering tips to lower monthly electric bills, at no cost to customers.

CPA has a host of local programs for residential and commercial customers looking for additional ways to save money and be rewarded for sustainable choices through incentives and bill savings.
