CPA is excited to announce the launch of Power Response Home, the fourth pathway to become available for customers to participate in CPA’s demand response energy savings program.
Home is open to all of CPA’s residential customers, with the goal of encouraging reduction in energy usage when electricity consumption is anticipated to be higher than anticipated.
In preparation for what is likely to be another hot summer that places additional strain on power resources, Power Response Home is available to CPA customers throughout our service area in Southern California. It is particularly appropriate for renters and/or those who do not have access to new home technology such as smart thermostats.
Power Response Home is one pathway in the Power Response program, which provides financial incentives to participants to temporarily reduce energy usage during Energy Saving Events (ESE) that are announced by CPA. When energy demand is higher than expected, enrolled participants will receive notification of an event by text message and/or email requesting energy use be reduced within an upcoming specified time period.
Home program participants receive $2 for every kilowatt hour (kWh) of energy reduced during these ESEs for participating. Enrollment incentives of $20 will be offered to eligible income qualified customers on CARE/FERA rates and customers with a service address located in under-resourced communities.
Conserving energy together has the benefit of strengthening grid reliability. CPA estimates over 28,800 kilowatt hours (kWh) will be avoided this summer as a result of the Power Response Home program, which is the equivalent of removing four homes from the energy grid for one year.
