In Celebration of Earth Month, Good Energy Saving Habits Can Have a Big Planetary Impact

CPA Happenings

Earth Month, celebrated every April, is a time to raise awareness about protecting the planet and encouraging sustainable habits.

Clean Power Alliance is dedicated to delivering renewable, dependable and affordable energy to local communities while creating new opportunities that help customers reduce their energy use and lower their monthly electricity costs.

One of the most impactful ways individuals and communities can participate is by focusing on conserving energy by taking mindful energy actions customers can help lower environmental impact, reduce utility costs and contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future for generations to come.

To save energy and money this Earth Month, try a few of these energy saving tips:

Get Ready for Warmer Days

Regularly cleaning or replacing air filters can cut your cooling system’s energy use by up to 15%. Be sure to also inspect your air conditioner’s evaporator coil and clean it each year before the warmer season begins to keep your system running efficiently.

Make the Most of Natural Cooling

Use fresh air and sunlight to your advantage whenever you can. Open windows during the cooler morning hours and use fans to keep air moving. In the afternoon, close curtains and blinds to block heat and reduce the strain on your air conditioner.

Upgrade Your Thermostat

Installing a smart, web-enabled thermostat can lower your annual energy bill by up to 10%. It allows you to adjust your home’s temperature remotely or set schedules, so your space is comfortable right when you arrive.

Take Advantage of Time-of-Use Rates

With Time-of-Use (TOU) plans, electricity costs vary depending on the time of day. Rates are typically highest during late afternoon and early evening hours (between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.). To save money, try using major appliances like dishwashers and laundry machines during off-peak hours, such as late at night or early in the morning.
