CPA Welcomes Four New Members to the Community Advisory Committee

CPA Happenings

Clean Power Alliance is pleased to welcome Leslie M. Diaz-Villavicencio, Casey Law, Margaret Fuentes, and Luis Alvarez Contreras as the newest members of its Community Advisory Committee (CAC). These community leaders bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their new roles and will play a key part in shaping the future of clean energy in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

The CAC is composed of CPA customers who are local leaders in the areas of renewable energy, public health, and community organizing.

The committee is a vital link between CPA’s Board of Directors and the diverse communities CPA serves. Members advise on essential programs and outreach efforts that aim to deliver environmental, economic, and social benefits to households and businesses across CPA’s service area. For Luis Alvarez Contreras, serving on the CAC provides a powerful platform to advocate for local renewable energy policy.

“Joining the CAC is an opportunity for me to help ensure that clean energy policies reflect the voices and needs of the communities they serve.” Added Alvarez Contreras, who represents the Gateway Cities, “I’m excited to be part of that mission.”

Leslie M. Diaz-Villavicencio, who will represent the San Gabriel Valley, brings a strong focus on equity and access. “I am delighted to represent the San Gabriel Valley community and households on the Community Advisory Committee to help share diverse perspectives and facilitate inclusivity, equity and access whenever possible.”

Casey Law, representing the San Gabriel Valley, sees his role as a bridge between science and community-based advocacy.

“As a scientist, I am very aware of how our energy system contributes to climate change and its associated harms,” said Law.” Community choice and CPA have huge potential for building a more sustainable world and I am honored to have a chance to support that.”

Together with current CAC members, these new appointees will help advance CPA’s commitment to clean, affordable, and equitable energy solutions. The 15-member committee represents seven sub-regions of our service area, including East Ventura/West L.A. County, West/Unincorporated Ventura County, the Gateway Cities, the San Gabriel Valley, the South Bay, the Westside and Unincorporated Los Angeles County.

CAC meetings are open to the public and are held on the third Thursday of each month from 1. – 2:30 p.m.
