CPA Joined Merito Foundation for EECCOA Challenge

Recently, CPA joined 11 other Ventura County dignitaries to judge the Merito Foundation Energy Efficiency to Mitigate Climate Change and Ocean Acidification “EECCOA” Challenge 2022.

The event celebrated the future environmental scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs who will lead efforts on behalf of protecting our planet and continuing to dedicate efforts to tackle climate change.

The CPA External Affairs team hosted an information booth at the event to share materials about our energy programs and service communities to an array of environmentally focused attendees.

Visitors were provided with background on CPA’s Power Share program, which provides discounts to eligible residents of underserved communities in the local community in the surrounding communities of the event location, the Museum of Ventura County in the western portion of the City of Ventura.

In addition to the CPA team members in attendance, the Merito Foundation Executive Director Rocio Lozano-Knowlton and staff were also present to engage with attendees and provide insight and information on the event.

The EECCOA Challenge 2022 was the last phase of the Ventura-River Action Network Program, a partnership program of the Ventura Unified School District and the MERITO Foundation.

The partnership provides energy, climate and ocean content, hands on citizen science experiences, and introduction to environmental entrepreneurship and advocacy to 7th – 12th grade students by working closely with their science teachers, helping to increase local engagement on critical climate issues while informing and supporting a generation of ambitious future green leaders.
