CPA Celebrates Local Green Leaders During Earth Month

Community Commitment

In celebration of Earth Month, Clean Power Alliance is excited to spotlight local Green Leaders championing environmental sustainability. Green Leaders are CPA commercial customers – partner communities and businesses – that are on the 100% Green Power energy option. The program features a network of likeminded businesses focused on advancing sustainability efforts through actions such as selecting a greater amount of renewable energy to help make Southern California cleaner.

One such Green Leader is Joie De Vivre Style (shown above), a women’s boutique located in Montrose in unincorporated LA County. In addition to choosing renewable energy, Joi De Vivre furthers its environmental commitment through the store’s sourcing and partnerships, with 95% of the store’s inventory sourced from fair trade companies or those utilizing eco-friendly, recycled, or sustainable practices.

“I’m concerned about climate change and the destruction of our ecosystem,” said boutique owner Kathleen Gold. “We’re just a small boutique but I feel better knowing I am doing what I can in the hopes that like-minded people are making conscious choices.”

The store also partners with a company to plant a tree for every purchase made and organizes a clothing swap for customers to exchange used clothing, with all leftovers donated to women’s shelters for recycling.

Green Leader businesses such as Joie De Vivre Style enjoy a variety of complimentary program benefits including visibility of their commitment, promotional assets such as web badges and certificates, a business listing on CPA’s website, and opportunities to be featured in CPA social media and newsletter, as well as invitations to future Green Leader events.

Green Leaders are in industries spanning from agriculture, transportation, hospitality, food and beverage and more, highlighting the broad local support for working collaboratively to shape a green economy.
