Clean Power Alliance Awards First Community Based Organization (CBO) Outreach Grants

May 15, 2020

In early 2020, CPA launched its first CBO Outreach Grant Program RFP and concluded the application process in March. The goal of the CBO Grant program is for CPA to engage local partners to reach and educate low-income customers in Disadvantaged Communities (DACs) and other vulnerable populations on a variety of topics. These include CPA’s rates and service, the benefits of clean energy and financial incentives through CARE/FERA, CPA Power Response, and the DAC Green Tariff customer program (pending CPUC funding approval).

CPA has awarded five CBOs with $20,000 one-year grants. Considering the unique outreach challenges during COVID-19, CPA has worked with each CBO to creatively adjust their work to focus on virtual engagement strategies until in-person outreach is safe to conduct.

Our five grantees include the following organizations (along with the communities they serve in CPA’s service territory):

Breathe LA
Unincorporated Los Angeles County

Climate First: Replacing Oil and Gas (CFROG)
Oxnard

Filipino American Chamber of Commerce, South Bay LA
Carson, Hawthorne, and Unincorporated Los Angeles County

MERITO Foundation
Various communities in Unincorporated Ventura County, Oxnard, and Ventura

Temple City Chamber of Commerce
Temple City, Arcadia, Alhambra, and Unincorporated Los Angeles County
